Deleting your account will permanently and irreversibly remove all your data from VALNYX. This action cannot be undone. Once deleted, your financial data, documents, and history cannot be recovered under any circumstances. Please ensure you have exported all data you wish to keep before proceeding.

1. Overview
This page explains how to request deletion of your VALNYX account and the associated personal data we hold about you. This process is part of your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
VALNYX LTD is committed to respecting your privacy rights and will process all legitimate deletion requests in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

2. How to Delete Your Account
You can request account deletion through any of the following methods:
Option 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)
The fastest and most secure way to delete your account is directly through the VALNYX app:

Go to My Account
Open the VALNYX app on your iOS or Android device, sign in, and tap on "My Account" from the menu.

Find "Delete My Account"
Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the My Account page. You will see the "Delete My Account" button (highlighted in red).

Confirm Deletion
Tap the button and confirm that you want to delete your account. Read the warning carefully before proceeding.

Account Deleted
Your account will be deleted and you will be logged out. You will receive an email confirming your account deletion.
Option 2: Email Request
If you cannot access your account or prefer to submit a written request:
Your email request must include:
- The email address associated with your VALNYX account
- A clear statement that you wish to delete your account
- Your full name as registered on the account
- The approximate date you created the account (if known)

3. Identity Verification
To protect your account and prevent unauthorised deletion requests, we must verify your identity before processing any deletion request.
3.1 Verification Methods

3.2 Unable to Verify Identity
If we cannot verify your identity, we may:
- Request additional information or documentation
- Ask security questions about your account
- Delay processing until verification is complete
- Refuse the request if verification cannot be established (to protect the account holder)
4. Data That Will Be Deleted
Upon successful account deletion, the following data will be permanently erased from our systems:

5. Data That May Be Retained
Certain data may be retained after account deletion for legitimate legal, regulatory, or technical reasons:

*These retention periods are required by UK law (Limitation Act 1980, Companies Act 2006, VAT Act 1994). Retained data is stored securely, is not used for any other purpose, and is automatically purged after the retention period expires.
5.1 Legal Basis for Retention
Data retention after deletion requests is permitted under UK GDPR Article 17(3) when necessary for:
- Legal Obligations: Compliance with UK tax, company, and financial regulations
- Legal Claims: Establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims
- Public Interest: Archiving purposes in the public interest
6. Deletion Timeline

6.1 Cooling-Off Period
There is a 14-day cooling-off period after you submit a deletion request through the app. During this period:
- Your account will be deactivated but not deleted
- You can cancel the deletion request by logging in
- After 14 days, deletion proceeds automatically and cannot be reversed
7. Before You Delete
Please consider the following before permanently deleting your account:
7.1 Export Your Data
Download a copy of your financial data before deletion:

- Excel Export: Go to Analytics β Export β Download Excel/CSV
- Data Portability Request: Email privacy@getvalnyx.com for a complete data export (UK GDPR Article 20)
7.2 Save Important Documents
If you have uploaded documents (receipts, contracts, bills), download them from the Documents section before deletion.
7.3 Consider Alternatives
Before deleting your account, consider:
- Downgrade to Free: Keep your account with limited features at no cost
- Contact Support: If you're experiencing issues, we may be able to help
- Take a Break: Simply stop using the appβyour data will remain secure

8. Subscription Cancellation
β οΈ Cancel Your Subscription First
If you have a Premium subscription, you MUST cancel it separately through Google Play or the App Store. Deleting your VALNYX account does NOT automatically cancel your subscription or entitle you to a refund.

8.2 Refund Policy
- Refund requests must be made through Google Play or the App Store
- VALNYX cannot process refunds directlyβall payments are handled by platform providers
- Deleting your account does not automatically qualify you for a refund
- Unused subscription time is not refundable upon account deletion
9. Third-Party Data
Deleting your VALNYX account removes data from our systems only. Data held by third parties is subject to their own policies:

10. After Deletion
10.1 Confirmation
You will receive an email confirmation once your account and data have been fully deleted.
10.2 What Happens Next
- You will be logged out of all devices
- Your email address will become available for registration
- Any active sessions will be terminated
- Push notification tokens will be invalidated
10.3 Creating a New Account
You may create a new VALNYX account using the same email address after deletion is complete. However:
- Your previous data cannot be recovered
- Your previous subscription does not transfer
- You will start with a fresh Free tier account

11.1 Response Timeframe
We will respond to all data rights requests within one month. This may be extended by two further months for complex requests, in which case we will inform you within one month of your request.
11.2 No Fee Required
You do not have to pay a fee to exercise your data rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive, or excessive.
12. Accounts of Minors
VALNYX is intended for users aged 16 and over (18 in some jurisdictions).
12.1 Parental/Guardian Requests
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 16 has created a VALNYX account:
- Email privacy@getvalnyx.com with details
- Provide proof of your parental/guardian relationship
- We will delete the account within 48 hours of verification
13. Deceased Users
If a VALNYX user has passed away, authorised representatives may request account deletion:

- Proof of legal authority (executor, administrator, or next of kin documentation)
- Government-issued ID of the requestor
- The email address associated with the deceased's VALNYX account
13.2 Processing
Submit requests to privacy@getvalnyx.com with "Deceased User Account" in the subject line. Requests are typically processed within 14 business days of receiving complete documentation.
